PODCAST: Volunteers of America Chesapeake Saves $50,000 Each Month with New Cloud Solution
Shyam Desigan, CIO and CFO of Volunteers of America Chesapeake
One area that is often overlooked when it comes to pulling off “pivotal plays” is the ability to save money for any organization. And, in the nonprofit sector, the ability to be efficient and stretch budget resources is paramount to helping the underserved in our country.
Volunteers of America Chesapeake, a nonprofit that provides support services to the elderly and to people who are homeless, mentally ill, or recovering from addiction, brought the idea of cost savings to the next level when it implemented a cloud computing system for back-office processing that created $30,000 to $50,000 in savings each month.
This was such a major pivotal play that the organization was named a CIO 100 winner last year.
We were fortunate enough to to spend some time with Shyam Desigan, CIO and CFO of Volunteers of America Chesapeake. Check out the exclusive podcast below:

I agree; I think that implementing technology such as cloud computing are imperative when it comes to saving money which is extra important with a non-profit because it enables them to help out an even larger number of people.
